Cricket is one of the most popular sports in the world. Cricket is in existence from the 16th Century and according to some evidences cricket was being played in Surrey, England in 1550. First Official International Test Match was played on 15th March 1877 between England and Australia at Melbourne Cricket Ground, Australia, where Australia beat England by 45 runs.
Cricket matches are played between two teams having 11 players each. There are several modes of cricket matches but Tests, One Days and Twenty-Twenty are played officially. Several mega events like World Cup and Champions Trophy occurs after a specific time period.
In cricket, dismissal is a term used for the batsman getting out. Normally there are 3 or 4 ways of getting dismissed which are most popular but in fact there are 11 methods of getting dismissed. Yes, you won’t believe this but there are 11 ways in which the batsman can get dismissed.

1: Bowled:
When a bowler’s delivery hits the stumps directly or indirectly ( first touched bat or body of the batsman) and one or both bails removes completely from the stumps, the batsman is called Bowled here. It is one of the most common ways of being dismissed.
2: Stumped:
A batsman is stumped out when he tries to play the ball while he or his bat is not in crease, and the wicket-keeper removes the bails from the stumps with the ball.
3: Run Out:
If anyone of the batsmen on the pitch are away from the crease while taking a run and the fielder remove the bails with the help of ball, the batsman will be Run out.
4: LBW:
One of the interesting ways of getting out where some rules are also in favor of batsman. LBW stands for Leg Before Wicket, as the name indicates, if the ball strike any port of the batsman’s body, other than hand and arm, and in umpire’s judgment the ball would have struck the stumps, in this case, the Umpire can declare batsman as out.
5: Hit Wicket:
If the batsman knocks the stumps either with the bat or his body accidentally while trying to drive the ball or a very beginning of his first run, then he is declared out and the wickets awarded to the bowler.
6: Timed Out:
A very interesting way of a dismissal, if a new batsman fails to take his position in the field to replace a dismissed batsman with in three minutes then he is out. This happens several times in county and first class cricket matches. In 1997-98, in a cricket match between Tripura and Orissa in India, H. Yadav was given timed out because he was in conversation with his team manager and did not reach the crease on time.
7: Retired:
If the batsman leaves the ground without informing umpire while he is not injured. The batsman may continue his innings after the permission of opposing captain. Only two batsman have been given out in this way in the history of cricket, Mahela Jayawardene and Marvan Atapattu of Srilanka against Bangladesh in September 2001.

I will say one thing, having to wait 4-5 months has given us plenty of time to think about this and talk about it. And we have. And we still feel this is the right thing for us. We feel so blessed to have such awesome donors.

I personally feel that I am getting everything I could have dreamed of. Two years ago I mourned the loss of ever carrying a pregnancy to full term. I will now be blessed with that opportunity and I still cannot believe it. When we turned to adoption, early on we decided we wanted an open adoption because we wanted our children to know where they came from, after talking to several adult adoptees, we realized and appreciated how important it is for people to know where they came from. So we will be able to give our child(ren) the gift of knowing where they came from.

We have had 4+ months to consider our child(ren)'s family tree that will have FOUR main branches, rather than just two.

I take comfort in knowing we are right where we are supposed to be, and I hope what we have been through over the past 11 years will help us to be the best parents we can be.

I do look forward to the day we meet the donors and their children, though I know I'll be a blubbering fool. I have had contact with the donors through email and text messaging and I find myself saying "thank you" A LOT and it just never seems adequate. How do we ever say thank you and convey our deep appreciation for this incredible gift we've been given.

Ok, I've succeeded in making myself cry now, time to go :)

In New Orleans, the actress is gearing up to shoot "Burn", a film being tagged an urban “re-visualization of the classic… Body Heat.” Starring Danny Glover, Giancarlo Esposito and Sean Faris, this erotic thriller has Parker playing a gorgeous, young temptress who sets up her lover Sean Faris to take the fall for her husband's death. No word yet on who's playing her husband, though it is speculated it may be Danny Glover or Giancarlo Esposito.

Parker has also snagged one of the lead roles in the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced drama pilot "The Secret Lives of Husbands and Wives".

Described as a thriller dramatic soap, the pilot centers on a murder and the secrets and lies within a tightly woven group of three suburban couples. Parker has been cast as Paula, half of one of the three couples. She may be a beautiful trophy wife, but she’s tough. After 12 years of a troubled marriage, she questions whether to stay with her husband because of love or respect. But she has no idea that her hubby is financially ruined.

Chris Brown tested positive for marijuana in Virginia, where smoking weed is illegal, but the judge said she would not revoke his probation.

Chris was just in court for a probation progress report hearing in his felony battery of Rihanna

According to probation report, Chris told his probation officer he had smoked weed in California -- where he has a medical marijuana prescription  and then failed the test in Virginia, where weed is illegal prescription or no prescription.

The judge said she never ordered Brown to undergo mandatory drug testing as part of his probation, so she cut him a break this time letting him off with a stern reminder to obey all laws.

The black 2012 Camaro belongs to Bobbi’s brother/boyfriend Nick Gordon.

The details surrounding the accident are unclear, sources say the couple had been arguing at the time of the crash and Nick’s Camaro was the only car involved. No one was injured.

After the accident, the car was missing the front right tire, the front bumper was torn off, and the airbags were deployed but somehow it got back to Bobbi and Nick’s apartment.

Cops went to the apartment soon after the accident for a noise complaint, but no one answered the door.

According to the incident report, officers saw the car parked outside the apartment with its hazard lights on and it appeared it had been driven in a damaged state.

Exhale is running a campaign to support the young women who are telling their stories on MTV called 16 & Loved.  It is an incredibly brave act for these three teens to talk about their experience with abortion on the national stage and, unfortunately, there are people and groups out there that attack women who speak out about abortion.  You can leave some love for the young women on the 16 & Loved website.  They are sponsoring a live-blog tonight at the 16 & Loved website featuring feminist superstar bloggers: Lynn Harris, Shelby Knox, Jamia Wilson, & Jessica Valenti. Some people might see a position at Planned Parenthood highly unlikely for an ex-professional wrestler and two-time golden glove boxing champion, but that’s because they don’t know Jeff Pier, Rape Crisis Service Program Manager at Planned Parenthood of the Rochester/Syracuse Region.

Since 2010, Jeff has been working his hardest to make sure that Rape Crisis Service is the place people know they can go to. (So in the words of Notorious B.I.G., “if ya don’t know, now ya know.”)

With five counties in the program- Monroe, Orleans, Genesee, Livingston and Wyoming- Rape Crisis Service is the biggest sexual assault service program in the state. Whether he’s grant writing, working on re-branding or fundraising after-hours, Jeff Pier, father of a four-year old daughter and loving husband, works diligently to assure that the services that Rape Crisis provides are seamless.

I have to admit, the first time I heard that a man- not to mention one who still looks like he used to be a wrestler- was in charge of Rape Crisis Service at PPRSR, it was a bit shocking. That’s because of gender stereotyping. This happens in society every day when it comes to victims of sexual assault, and Jeff realizes that it’s a serious problem.

Always giving it to people straight, Jeff tells me “it’s not like a Lifetime movie,” a common misconception portrayed by the media. Sexual assault should never be taken lightly, but the process of coping with and/or coming forward about a sexual assault can be very difficult, sometimes even a “long, daunting process,” Jeff said.

That’s why trained counselors are available 24-hours a day, seven days a week to provide information and support. “My job is to make sure our clients are treated appropriately” he tells me, stating that Rape Crisis Service is here to make the system easier, not more complex. I know this must be true, because talking to Jeff himself was a very easy, natural experience. The other employees representing Rape Crisis Service are no different, making it ultimately a warm and welcoming place.

Still, it’s not just Jeff and the other employees at Rape Crisis Service that dedicate their lives to helping victims of sexual assault. Volunteers are always needed and are an integral part of how the program functions: without them, there would be no 24-hour crisis hotline. “The hardest thing to do is come forward,” Jeff tells me. “When women (or men) can tell their story, only then can we battle the violence against them.”

State Fair Fun is On the Way!

Free condoms, free buttons, and a whole lot of important information: it’s almost that time of year again, time for the great New York State Fair! Beginning on August 23rd, the fairgrounds (located in Syracuse, NY) will be filled with people from all walks of life enjoying the hundreds of attractions that the Fair has to offer. Of course, the attraction that should be on the top of your list is visiting the Planned Parenthood booth in the Center of Progress building. Let me tell you why. 
As a native of Syracuse, NY, I have been attending the Fair for as long as I can remember- Planned Parenthood themselves have been seen at the Fair for decades. Throughout those years my experience of the fair has transformed. The days of showing up with a group of hoodlum friends dressed in band tee-shirts and neon knee-socks have passed. And, I admit, it’s nice to no longer attend just to ride as many rides as I can with some boy I met at the homecoming game. As I have grown up, my vision of the Fair has grown up, but two things have stayed constant throughout time: eating as much Fair food as I possibly can, and always visiting the Planned Parenthood booth. Whether it was to get cool buttons for my L.L. Bean monogrammed backpack, or today, to pick up pamphlets and contact cards- and let’s be real, free condoms- the Planned Parenthood booth has always been a favorite of mine.

So, it’s fitting that during the last summer I will ever enjoy (after graduation, POOF there goes what’s known as a “real” summer vacation) I get to spend a few days working at the very booth I have come to know and love. I’ll be at the Planned Parenthood booth from 10AM to 4PM September 1st-3rd, and it’s overwhelming just thinking about the things I will encounter. It’s inevitable that I’ll feel a touch of nostalgia when people stop to pick up some free stuff, but I’m really looking forward to engaging in meaningful conversations with those who have had life-changing experiences thanks to the work of Planned Parenthood. I’m positive that there are many.

My dad, as well as many other adult figures in my life, always told me “you learn something new every day”. No matter what kind of information it is, you have more knowledge than you did the day before. Being informed and equipped with knowledge is the best way to assure that you are ready for anything that life throws your way. Visiting the Planned Parenthood booth at the New York State Fair has always acted as a great source of knowledge for me, and has had a great impact on my decision making skills. So please, come visit me this year as I have my own turn at spreading the knowledge Planned Parenthood has to offer!

I am in panic-mode this week; fall classes at Nazareth start up Monday, August 27th. I cringe at the dreaded words “summer is over.” But friends, do you know what is worse than summer ending? (I know what you’re thinking- how could anything be worse that that?!) It gets worse. School starting up again means my time as an intern for the PPRSR marketing department has to come to an .

Let us have a brief moment of silence in remembrance of the beautiful memories made here at the PPRSR University Ave. building.

My experience as an intern here cannot- and dare I say will not- be replicated. Interning at PPRSR has solidified my allegiance to the work that Planned Parenthood does for the rest of my life. Not only is it what Planned Parenthood stands for, it’s the people I have met here and what they stand for. Never in my life, so far a short 21 years, have I met so many genuine, kind, hardworking people. I made friends here: real friends.

Speaking of “real,” today’s brief post is not all sad news and goodbyes. I get to still be actively involved in the young professionals group, REAL (Rising Educators Advocates and Leaders) for Planned Parenthood. REAL for Planned Parenthood is a board of young leaders throughout our Rochester and Syracuse communities devoted to getting more people involved in the Planned Parenthood mission. I am proud to be apart of this group’s Steering Committee and am thankful the end of my internship does not mean the end of my involvement with Planned Parenthood.

It’s been a life changing experience here at PPRSR. I know that I’ve not only gained skills for the work-world, but wisdom, too, for all of the other extraneous events life throws at us. I’ve learned that it’s important to know yourself, what you stand for and what you believe in. That said, as I continue to grow as a student and as a woman, I know I’ll bring the motto “it’s about health and safety” with me everywhere I go.

ps to today's first update

I will say one thing, having to wait 4-5 months has given us plenty of time to think about this and talk about it. And we have. And we still feel this is the right thing for us. We feel so blessed to have such awesome donors.

I personally feel that I am getting everything I could have dreamed of. Two years ago I mourned the loss of ever carrying a pregnancy to full term. I will now be blessed with that opportunity and I still cannot believe it. When we turned to adoption, early on we decided we wanted an open adoption because we wanted our children to know where they came from, after talking to several adult adoptees, we realized and appreciated how important it is for people to know where they came from. So we will be able to give our child(ren) the gift of knowing where they came from.

We have had 4+ months to consider our child(ren)'s family tree that will have FOUR main branches, rather than just two.

I take comfort in knowing we are right where we are supposed to be, and I hope what we have been through over the past 11 years will help us to be the best parents we can be.

I do look forward to the day we meet the donors and their children, though I know I'll be a blubbering fool. I have had contact with the donors through email and text messaging and I find myself saying "thank you" A LOT and it just never seems adequate. How do we ever say thank you and convey our deep appreciation for this incredible gift we've been given.

Ok, I've succeeded in making myself cry now, time to go :)

Starfish can change their Gender

Starfish, also known as Sea stars are one of the most beautiful creatures that are found in seas. Although they are know as Starfish but in fact they are not fish but echinoderms (a kind of marine animals). They do not have scales, gills or fins like fish. There are about 1800 to 2000 species of starfish. They are usually found in all oceans of the world. They prefer coastal areas and coral reefs.
Starfish have usually five rays or arms but many of them also have 10 to 15 arms. A rare type of starfish can have up to 50 arms. Their size is about 5 to 10 inches and weight is up to 11 lbs. They have a microscopic eye spot at the end of each arm which helps them to view the moments of other sea animals and differentiate between darkness and light. They have tube like feet with the help of which they can move.
Amazing facts about Starfish:

• Starfish are brainless.
• Starfish can regenerate a broken arm.
• If they are cut into pieces, every piece can become a new starfish.

Asterina Gibossa, a rare species of starfish, are born male but later they change themselves into females. Also there are some other species of starfish that can change their gender with the change of temperature and it also depends on the availability of food.
They don’t have blood in their body. They have a water vascular system having sea water in it.
A female starfish can lay about 1.3 million eggs at one time, off which lots of eggs are eaten by other marine animals, that is why their population is in control.
They have two stomachs.
Although there are about 1800-2000 species of starfish, most famous or common of them are Bat Star, Red Knobbed Star, Pink sea Star, Carpet sea star and Eleven-armed sea star.

Snail Can Sleep for 3 yr

Snail is a very small animal mostly found in garden and fresh water. The Size of the snail is only few inches. Snail evolved almost 600 years ago. Snails have four tentacles, two are large and the other two are small, eyes are on the large tentacles and can smell from the small tentacles.

They doesn’t require large amount of food and have redula in its mouth which look like tongues. There normal foods includes mainly Plants and Fruits. The average life of snail is 15 years but in rare cases they can live up to 25 years.

The information provided above may look normal to you but the most shocking and interesting thing about this tiny creature is that snail can sleep for three years and you must be astonished to know that a regular nap or sleep of a snail is one week

11 ways of Dismissal – Getting out in Cricket

Cricket is one of the most popular sports in the world. Cricket is in existence from the 16th Century and according to some evidences cricket was being played in Surrey, England in 1550. First Official International Test Match was played on 15th March 1877 between England and Australia at Melbourne Cricket Ground, Australia, where Australia beat England by 45 runs.
Cricket matches are played between two teams having 11 players each. There are several modes of cricket matches but Tests, One Days and Twenty-Twenty are played officially. Several mega events like World Cup and Champions Trophy occurs after a specific time period.
In cricket, dismissal is a term used for the batsman getting out. Normally there are 3 or 4 ways of getting dismissed which are most popular but in fact there are 11 methods of getting dismissed. Yes, you won’t believe this but there are 11 ways in which the batsman can get dismissed.
Let us a have a look on all 11 ways of getting out in Cricket.
1: Bowled:
When a bowler’s delivery hits the stumps directly or indirectly ( first touched bat or body of the batsman) and one or both bails removes completely from the stumps, the batsman is called Bowled here. It is one of the most common ways of being dismissed.
2: Stumped:
A batsman is stumped out when he tries to play the ball while he or his bat is not in crease, and the wicket-keeper removes the bails from the stumps with the ball.
3: Run Out:
If anyone of the batsmen on the pitch are away from the crease while taking a run and the fielder remove the bails with the help of ball, the batsman will be Run out.
4: LBW:
One of the interesting ways of getting out where some rules are also in favor of batsman. LBW stands for Leg Before Wicket, as the name indicates, if the ball strike any port of the batsman’s body, other than hand and arm, and in umpire’s judgment the ball would have struck the stumps, in this case, the Umpire can declare batsman as out.
5: Hit Wicket:
If the batsman knocks the stumps either with the bat or his body accidentally while trying to drive the ball or a very beginning of his first run, then he is declared out and the wickets awarded to the bowler.
6: Timed Out:
A very interesting way of a dismissal, if a new batsman fails to take his position in the field to replace a dismissed batsman with in three minutes then he is out. This happens several times in county and first class cricket matches. In 1997-98, in a cricket match between Tripura and Orissa in India, H. Yadav was given timed out because he was in conversation with his team manager and did not reach the crease on time.
7: Retired:
If the batsman leaves the ground without informing umpire while he is not injured. The batsman may continue his innings after the permission of opposing captain. Only two batsman have been given out in this way in the history of cricket, Mahela Jayawardene and Marvan Atapattu of Srilanka against Bangladesh in September 2001.

Rohan Marley Goes In On Wyclef Jean

In his new autobiography Wyclef claimed they had an affair in 1996 while he was married and Lauryn made him believe he fathered her first child, Zion David.

That was news to Rohan, who dated Lauryn from '96 to 2004 Wyclef "knew from jump that was my son from the day Lauryn was pregnant."

Rohan  does admit Lauryn and Wyclef had sex before he came on the scene, but says he's confident it ended because Wyclef actually played matchmaker  "They were definitely not messing around, or he would never have given me the okay."

Deion Sanders Doesn't Want To Pay Pilar $10,000 A Month

Deon Sanders filed documents in Texas Supreme Court challenging the support order that was established in a lower court back in May. 
He wants his child support obligation significantly reduced.

But Pilar claims Deion is worth roughly $250 million and the Texas Supreme Court shouldn't have any sympathy for him or change the support structure that's already in place.

 Pilar has filed her own legal documents outlining why she needs so much from Deion.

Among the highlights:

New Music Album: Tamia "Beautiful Surprise"

"Considering I don't have a television show or anything else like that pushing the music, this is definitely a testament to R&B and its fans," Tamia says of her project's success. "Fans are out there supporting the music."

The success is even sweeter, given the fact that Beautiful Surprise is Tamia's first project on her own label, Plus 1 Music Group, distributed by Capitol/EMI.

Besides Remi, Tamia tapped producers the Runners, Luke Laird and frequent collaborator Shep Crawford to help work on the album. In addition to co-writing most of the songs, she doubled as executive producer with Claude Kelly marking the first time the pair worked together.

"Tamia is what I like to call a 'dark horse' in terms of singers," Kelly says. "Somewhere in between her albums, people get amnesia about how amazing she is. People are starving for strong, melodic R&B songs that cater to their experiences. That, coupled with Tamia's refreshing voice, reminds them of why they fell in love with her in the first place."
